A team of Inrap archaeologists is excavating, under curation by the State (Drac Rhône-Alpes), a Middle Paleolithic site in Quincieux in conjunction with work on the A466.

A neolithic "mother-goddess" from Auvergne?

The fragment of a ceramic feminine statuette has been found during the excavation of a Middle Neolithic site in Pont-du-Château (Puy-de-Dôme), by a team from the Inrap. The excavation is curated by the Regional Archaeology Service.

A Neolithic cemetery of major importance for both French and Swiss archaeology

In 2002, the National Institute for Preventive Archaeology (INRAP) discovered the Genevray site on the route of the future Thonon-les-Bains bypass in Haute-Savoie. An evaluation was authorised and curated by the archaeology service of the DRAC de Rhônes-Alpes.

Discovery of a mikveh in the medieval Jewish quarter of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux

A ritual Jewish bath, a mikveh, may have been located a cellar in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux (Drôme). The city entrusted the study of this cellar to an Inrap team.

The megaliths of Veyre-Monton (Puy-de-Dôme): aligned menhirs, tomb, cairn, and statue

An Inrap team has recently excavated a group of aligned menhirs at Veyre-Monton (Puy-de-Dôme). This research, prescribed by the State (Drac Auvergne – Rhône- Alpes), was conducted in the context of construction work by the APRR society to widen the A75 motorway. This is the first time such alignments, cairns and statuemenhirs have been discovered in Auvergne or, more broadly, in central France.
