A team of Inrap archaeologists is excavating, under curation by the State (Drac Rhône-Alpes), a Middle Paleolithic site in Quincieux in conjunction with work on the A466.
A combined team composed of archaeologists from the Ardennes departmental archaeology unit and from Inrap has just finished excavating the aristocratic Gallic grave at Warcq (Ardennes). Curated by the State (Drac Champagne-Ardenne), this site was part of the investigation of the route of the A304 motorway being constructed by the Dreal between Charleville-Mézières and Rocroi.
An exceptional Gallo-Roman sanctuary is currently being revealed at Pont-Saint-Maxence (Oise). This Inrap excavation has been authorised by the government (Drac Picardie) and is taking place prior to the construction of a shopping centre.
Over the last two years, Inrap archaeologists and the team from the medieval building site of Guédelon have been collaborating on an astonishing experimental archaeology project: the construction of a 12th century mill using the techniques of the period. It is based on the remains of two water mills discovered in 2008 in Thervay (Jura), one from the Carolingian period, the other dated to between the mid 11th and late 12th centuries. This discovery made a significant contribution to our knowledge of water-powered milling in the medieval period.
At Bar-sur-Aube (Aube), in 2013, an Inrap team realized an archaeological excavation in advance of the construction of a new road and a housing development, under the curation of the State (Drac Champagne).
From 2011 to 2013, an Inrap team, under curation by the State (Drac Bretagne), conducted an integral preventive excavation of the Jacobin convent, the site of the future Rennes Métropole conference center.
Inrap has just completed five months of archaeological excavation at Entrains-sur-Nohain in advance of a private development project, curated by the State (Drac Burgundy). The 1000 m2 explored yielded part of the Antique town of Intaranum. The archaeologists unexpectedly discovered the remains of a mass grave, providing evidence of a massacre of a civil population.
In advance of the construction of an industrial business park by the associated communes of Pays de Sainte Odile, Inrap has just finished a large excavation at Obernai, under the curation of the State (DRAC Alsace).
