Until March 2015, and Inrap team is excavating, under prescription by the State (Drac Ile-de-France), 100 m2 of the basement of the Monoprix RéaumurSébastopol store in Paris, in advance of the renovation of this basement into storage space.
The police headquarters (PH) and the Institut National de Recherches Archéologiques Préventives (Inrap) invite you to travel back in time and to look through a window into the history of Paris on the occasion of an exceptional presentation of the 300 m² of preventive archaeological excavations realized in the center of the Ile de la Cité, at 2 rue Lutèce, within the walls of the police headquarters.This research, taking place in advance of the construction of a new public reception hall, is lead by four specialists of Parisian urban archaeology and one physical anthropologist.
An excavation on the rue de Rivoli is currently uncovering the first Medieval city fortifications of Paris. Curated by the State (Drac Île-de-France), this excavation by an Inrap team has found a deep ditch on land isolated among a group of buildings.
A team of archaeo-anthropologists from the Conseil Général of Seine-Saint-Denis and Inrap, is at present excavating a funerary ensemble dating from the Early Middle Ages in Noisy-le-Grand.
A few kilometres from Paris, a team from the Inrap is at present excavating, curated by the Regional Archaeological Service (Drac Île de France), the remains of a seigniorial dwelling of the Late Middle Ages at Lisses (Essonne).Now known as "La Ferme du Bois Chaland", its archaeological history nonetheless dates back to the 13th century.
A team from the Institut national de recherches archéologiques preventives (Inrap) has found important Gallo-Roman and Mediaeval remains in the town of Vanves. A preventive excavation, curated by the State, is being carried out prior to the construction of a residential building.
