Genomic evidence of the dispersion of modern human beings in Africa
International conference, Friday 9 and Saturday 10 November 2018, at the Muséum de Toulouse.
International conference "Human being ? An archeology of the origins" by Mark Stoneking, Institut Max Plank de Leipzig, Germany
Ever since the sequence of the first archaic human genome was determined in 2010, sequencing of the archaic genome has become a source of new and important information about both the origins and migration patterns of modern humans. They also inform us about the genetic changes that led to modern humans and point to the alleles of functional importance that we have received from archaic humans. My presentation will summarise the latest information resulting from the analysis of archaic genomes.
Mark Stoneking supervises the Human Population History Group of the Department of Evolutionary Genetics at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, and is Honorary Professor of Biological Anthropology at the University of Leipzig. His research focuses on the use of molecular genetic methods to address issues of anthropological interest concerning human origins, migration and population relations.
