Discoveries

The French archaeological mission to the United Arab Emirates, including CNRS and INRAP searchers, and the museum of the Umm al-Quwain Emirate (UAE) have recently discovered the oldest sanctuary in Arabia (3500-3200 BC), as well as the oldest known ceremonial site dedicated to a very particular marine mammal, the dugong (Dugong dugon). 
These results have just been published in the international review Antiquity.

Work on the substructure of the Algiers metro and its subsidiary installations (stations, ventilation shafts, etc.) are being carried out within the limits of the Kasbah, listed as an Algerian National Heritage Site since 1973, and on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1992. More than two thousand years of the history of Algiers are buried here.

The Ethiopian authority of research and conservation of heritage (ARCCH), the French centre of Ethiopian studies (CFEE) and the French National Institute of Preventive Archaeology (Inrap) have just executed, during an exceptional mission, the topographic and archaeological map of the site of Lalibela, classified by UNESCO in 1978 as part of the world heritage of humanity.

Inrap and the UNESCO World Heritage Center have just signed an agreement ("letter of intention") to combine their efforts for the conservation and development of sites and monuments on the World Heritage of Humanity List (1972 Convention for the protection of natural and cultural sites, ratified by 186 States).

An Inrap team has just excavated a Gallic cemetery in Attichy in the Oise. This excavation, curated by the Regional Archaeological Service (Drac Picardie), prior to the exploitation of a quarry of aggregates, has above all brought to light the graves of two eminent Celtic personages. 

Paris retrouve sa première enceinte médiévale
Discoveries

An excavation on the rue de Rivoli is currently uncovering the first Medieval city fortifications of Paris. Curated by the State (Drac Île-de-France), this excavation by an Inrap team has found a deep ditch on land isolated among a group of buildings.

Discoveries

In 2004, François Gentili, Inrap archaeologist and specialist of seigniorial dwellings, explored the 17th century ice-houses of what was once the château of Baillet-en-France.

Discoveries

A team of archaeo-anthropologists from the Conseil Général of Seine-Saint-Denis and Inrap, is at present excavating a funerary ensemble dating from the Early Middle Ages in Noisy-le-Grand.
